Fun’d Running

My kids ran a “fun’d run” at school on Friday.  This is one of the major fundraisers for the PTA.  Both of them managed to get in 3 laps within the 20 minutes.  Neither of them are thrilled with running so I am proud of them for putting up a good effort.  Here are some quick snaps.

Good friends and good times

This slideshow is long overdue but I hope worth the wait. Daylene and I have been friends since we were pregnant with our 10-year olds! She lives in Texas now but has family in Sacramento which brings her to town every summer for a visit. Though we aren’t always able to connect, I did drag her down to Old Sac for a family session this time around. Sarah tagged along with me and met Daylene’s daughter for the first time, and even though there is a 3 year age difference, they got along as thick as thieves, and now Sarah cannot stop chattering about her new friend! Daylene – you are an AMAZING mom and do not ever let anyone make you think any different. I know the road ahead looks difficult but I know you have strength and conviction, red boots and a Sassy 7 to help! I love you sweetie!

Congratulations Allie & Michael!

My sister-in-law Allie got engaged yesterday!  My husband and I have known for a few days and it’s been killing me not to say anything.  Michael was very old-fashioned and had asked Scott and his brothers for their blessing last week, and then drove down to southern California this weekend to pop the question!  And despite the most un-Edwards-like trait of not liking Star Wars movies, we still love him and are looking forward to welcoming him to the family!  Congratulations Allie and Michael.  Love you!

PS – I didn’t take these pictures…. Allie and Michael self-documented their evening :)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I hope everyone has a fabulous day filled with hugs, kisses, romance and CHOCOLATE!  I’m heading out to the store here in a bit to pick up some groceries to make my hubby his favorite meal… New York steak, fettucine alfredo and shrimp scampi…. and maybe some molten chocolate lava cake thingy for dessert :)   Diet be dammed today!

Here are my little Valentine cuties this morning.  I just picked up a new 50mm lens and wanted to try it out.  We actually have a little bit of sun inbetween storms today!

Welcoming the Year of the Ox!

Happy Chinese New Year!  The kids and I took a trip over to visit my family for the New Year celebration, stopping along the way at Mission San Jose in Fremont to study up for Nick’s mission report… but I’ll save that for another day.  Here are some photos from dinner…

Another shot of the family… courtesy of the timer on my camera… d’oh… should have brought the remote trigger!

And the feast!  Lots of YUM going on there… I think we’re still working on the leftovers.  I’ll spare you from the descriptions — some are not for the faint of gastronomic heart… but visiting my family is always a fun and relaxing time, and being there for a holiday makes it even better.
