Welcoming the Year of the Ox!

Happy Chinese New Year!  The kids and I took a trip over to visit my family for the New Year celebration, stopping along the way at Mission San Jose in Fremont to study up for Nick’s mission report… but I’ll save that for another day.  Here are some photos from dinner…

Another shot of the family… courtesy of the timer on my camera… d’oh… should have brought the remote trigger!

And the feast!  Lots of YUM going on there… I think we’re still working on the leftovers.  I’ll spare you from the descriptions — some are not for the faint of gastronomic heart… but visiting my family is always a fun and relaxing time, and being there for a holiday makes it even better.

Old Sac Fun

What do you get when you mix a dozen photographers, their kids, and the beauty of Old Sacramento?  One crazy photo shoot!  I had the pleasure of shooting alongside some fabulous local photographers on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.  It was a beautiful day and we crawled the streets and alleys of Old Sac to find great background textures and settings.  These kids were just adorable… can you tell they have PKS (Photographer’s Kid Syndrome)?  They are good at posing on command!

A new logo for Captured Grace

Okay, I know I have a little blogging to catch up on!  I promise to be back with some pictures soon.  In the meantime, here are a couple logo designs that I did for Lisa at Captured Grace Photography.  I am getting back into the “design” half of Studio JE “design and photography” :)   I had gotten so busy with photography during the holiday season that I had to put all my design projects on hold.  Now that we’re into winter and the opportunities for outdoor photography have slowed down, I am working on some new design projects.

Lisa was great because she knew her color scheme and what she wanted to use for graphic elements.  It was easy to come up with a few different concepts for her.  In the end, she decided to use two of the concepts!  You can catch her in action over at www.capturedgrace.com.  Lisa – thanks for the opportunity to work with you.  I’m glad you love the designs.

Just a Mom brag….

Hope everyone’s new year is going great!  I have been busy updating the website some more, doing some logo and design work, getting geared up for senior season and starting to get inquiries for events and weddings!  It’s going to be a busy year!  Here is just a quick practice shot I was doing with the kids to test some lighting.  I just love them.nicksarahnewyears2009blog

Hey Jude….

This little sweetheart will capture your heart if you don’t watch out!  I have the privilege of being related to him as well :)   This is my husband’s cousin’s son (yeah, I think that makes us 2nd cousins or something like that).  Still pretty new to the world but already charming his way through life.  We had a little mini-session on New Year’s Day, in between bites of my mother-in-law’s FABULOUS cioppino.  Cute babies and good food — it was a good way to start off the new year!

To my dear cousin Jason – I know you’ve already had more than your fair share of challenges in life, but I know that Jude is a blessing and a reward for all your efforts.  Rachel – I can already tell that you are going to be an awesome mother.  This baby is lucky to have both of you for parents!  I hope you enjoy your photos.
