This little sweetheart is my new nephew Caleb! He was born about a month premature but is filling out nicely now! He was a little less willing to cooperate with Aunt Joy for his photos since he’s a bit past the newborn stage now, but after a little lunch, he was pretty content to settle back to sleep. Congratulations Paul and Sarah! He is such a little lovebug! Thanks for making me an aunt!!

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing family! I had back-to-back sessions with my new nephew (more on that later) for a quick newborn session and my sister-in-law and her fiance for their engagement portraits. We headed over to University of the Pacific, which is where I went to college. Wow, the campus has changed alot in the 17 years since I graduated and did I ever feel OLD looking at the students! Still, the grounds are as beautiful as ever and we found lots of spots to take great shots. Here is just a quick sneak preview and I will have the rest finished up as soon as possible. Allie, you are the closest thing I have to a sister and I am so happy for you and Michael. I wish you all the best!
These beautiful sisters were a blast to photograph – coy and shy one minute, sassy and enthusiastic the next! It was hard work keeping up with these two, who led me all over the house and yard. Heather, thanks to you and Fred for allowing me to capture your daughters’ spirits (and many thanks to your Mom for lending us the beautiful backdrop of her home). Here’s your slideshow… enjoy!
This slideshow is long overdue but I hope worth the wait. Daylene and I have been friends since we were pregnant with our 10-year olds! She lives in Texas now but has family in Sacramento which brings her to town every summer for a visit. Though we aren’t always able to connect, I did drag her down to Old Sac for a family session this time around. Sarah tagged along with me and met Daylene’s daughter for the first time, and even though there is a 3 year age difference, they got along as thick as thieves, and now Sarah cannot stop chattering about her new friend! Daylene – you are an AMAZING mom and do not ever let anyone make you think any different. I know the road ahead looks difficult but I know you have strength and conviction, red boots and a Sassy 7 to help! I love you sweetie!
I know I am soooo behind on blogging – it’s not even funny! I took vacation and then got busy preparing for the holiday rush! Exciting new things are happening at Studio JE this month. First and foremost, we have secured STUDIO SPACE! We are sharing a co-op space with other local Elk Grove photographers at Ponce’s Portraits in the old historic Franklin area of southern Elk Grove. This is a fantastic studio with wonderful backdrops and props and all sorts of potential fun and good times! We’ll continue to offer outdoor sessions, of course, to take advantage of the great natural beauty in our area, but studio sessions are also available at a reduced rate and will be very convenient once the rain starts!
